DEMO Can't be Missed

I just sent CFI's August issue off to press last week, and while putting the last touches on the DEMO 2008 showguide came up with a few reasons why no serious player in the North American forest sector can afford to miss this once-every-four-year event. Here they are:

  • The gear is actually working at DEMO 2008 - harvesting, felling, skidding/forwarding, processing/delimbing, loading, grinding, chipping, hauling, planting - even sawing, splitting or edging if that's your thing.
  • It's the one venue where the majors plan to launch their major new equipment lines or innovations. I've lost count of the new gear that will be logging near Halifax, so see it first here, in action. This includes an all-new buncher line from Volvo, new E-Series harvesters and forwarders (with rotating cabs) from Deere, new forwarders from Tigercat, new LogMax heads and EcoLog CTL gear, several new Waratah models, more new biomass harvesting gear than you can count, new Cat 500 Series bunchers, two new heads from Quadco, and much, much more...
  • You needn't be out of touch. The show is in the woods alright, but there is cell coverage in several spots, and show organizers are working to spread that over the site with temporary solutions.
  • DEMO 2008 is just 15 minutes off the highway near Halifax International Airport, making it convenient for anyone in the region, or around the continent, with direct flights from Montreal and Toronto to start with.
  • Finally, it's in the heart of Nova Scotia, Canada's Ocean Playground. Add a day, and you're a quick drive to such tourist staples as Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, and countless quiet beaches. Add a few days, and the Maritimes is your oyster, from PEI and the Bay of Fundy to Cape Breton's Cabot Trail. Even if you're all business, the show closes at five, so take in downtown Halifax's historic waterfront each night after the show. You can't lose.

It all happens September 18-20, with a bioenergy conference before. Click on the banner ad above for more info. Canadian Forest Industries and Canadian Biomass magazines will have a site, so stop by our tent and say hello. I hope to see many old and new friends there.
